How to set up AI tagging
AI tagging takes a couple of minutes to set up, and you only do it once. Open Settings ▸ AI to begin.
Choose a provider
Pick the AI service you want to use under Provider: None (disable AI tagging), OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), or Ollama (local). The first two run in the cloud and need a key. Ollama runs on your own Mac and uses an Endpoint instead, for example http://localhost:11434.
Add your key
For a cloud provider, paste your key into the API key field (it looks like “sk-…”). Use Show key or Hide key if you want to check it, then choose Save key. The handy Get a free key for {provider} or Get a key for {provider} link takes you to the right page if you don’t have one yet. You can later Clear key to remove it.
Pick a model and test
Choose a Model for the provider, then click Test connection. You’ll see Connection works ✓ when everything is right, or Connection failed if the key or model needs another look.
Set your options
Decide how Brolla works day to day: turn on Auto-tag videos on import and Auto-tag images on import to tag automatically as you add files. Adjust Frames per video (more frames give better coverage at slightly more cost), set Max tags per clip, and fine-tune the Tag prompt if you want a particular style of tags.
